About

Hi, my name is Daniele Rossi. Welcome to the Super Spud Soundtrack!

If you’re a musician who knows how to read music, you may like this site.

The concept is simple: I draw comics with sheet music. I post it as a pdf. You download it, print it out, record your rendition as an mp3, upload it somewhere and post the link here to share with the world.

And I don’t know how to write music!

So your mission is to see if the random notes I write actually make a melody! that’s why it’s in beta.

What kind of music can I make?

Whatever you like! You are free to interpret it any way you like. Play the piano, banjo, tambourine, synthesizer, spoons, hum it, anything. Be creative. Feel free to add vocals.

Who retains copyright?

I wrote the melody so I own the copyright for that. But I am giving you the permission to interpret and record the music for the sake of this website. In the slim case the melody actually does end up making sense (you never know) and you want to use it to put on an album, contact me (d@superspud.com) and we’ll work out a deal.

It’s the whole creative commons licensing— for the music only. Attribution non-commercial share alike.

Creative Commons License
This means you can record the music any way you like, including building upon it, for non-commercial use and you must give me credit and license your new work under the same terms. You are also free to distribute the sheet music you download from this site (again, non-commercial use) by the by-nc-nd license. All new work based on my music carries the same license including being for non-commercial use. You can read more about it here: Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License.

As for my comics, they are not covered under creative commons. However, you can freely distribute the sheet music (without making any money from it) for the sole purpose of letting others try their hand at recording an interpretation.

We’re all here for fun :)

Where do you post the link to your mp3?

You’ll be posting it in the blog post where I posted the sheet music. Can I write ‘post’ enough times?
